Reconciliation Sunday

The first Sunday of October is World Communion Sunday and Reconciliation Sunday.  On this day we celebrate the gathering of all out brothers and sisters of all denominations, all races, creed, color, and  socio-economic persuasions around the table.  The table which symbolizes God's unconditional love and forgiveness.  The table should also symbolize our unity as Christians, The Body of Christ.

The table reminds us of our call to be accepting of all, just as God accepts us.  If this is true, then why do we need a RECONCILIATION SUNDAY? It is a day that we are reminded that there still is bigotry in the world.  It is a day that reminds us that there is stall hate for another human being because of the color, race, creed, ethnicity and yes, even their socioeconomic situation.

I long for the day when we can be the true reflection of the table and all that it symbolizes.  The celebration of the table is not just for Sunday, but every day.  In fact, if we, the people of Table, fulfill the teachings of Jesus Christ, reconciliation can happen every day.

   Until next time....

   Grace and Peace
