Happy New Year
I can't believe that it is already 2006. It seems like only yesterday we were all worried about the arrival of the new MILLENNIUM! The new decade is half way gone! Each new year brings an opportunity to begin anew. I talked about this in my sermon this past Sunday. We always begin each new year with resolutions. Resolutions are about change. We humans do this all the time, but the church is not different. With each new year, there are opportunities for the church to look at what it does and then endeavor to change.
We hate changes because it gets us out of our comfort zone. Also, when change is suggested, we hear those words that often stop change, "WE'VE NEVER DONE IT THAT WAY BEFORE".
These words have killed many churches. We have grown small in numbers but we have grown in spirit. There aren't as many to do the jobs of the church, but that does not mean we have to stop doing the jobs of the church.
The lack of training or not enough information sometimes causes church members to be uncomfortable about taking a job in the church. Well, I have the answer. LEADERSHIP TRAINING! I am challenging all our congregation to attend the Leadership Training on January 28th in Oklahoma City.
What better way to start the new year then joining together in learning new ways to grow our church numerically and spiritually, to do the business of the church and to learn to teach old dogs new tricks. I hope that you will prayerfully consider joining me on this day. It will be a day that will mark a new beginning at Fellowship Christian Church.
Grace and peace
Until next time.....
